Sam Wilson is a classical guitarist based in Columbus, Georgia. Born in Atlanta in 1998, his passion for music began at age 12 after discovering Guitar Hero and falling in love with rock music. His early musical journey included performing with original rock bands across the U.S., composing music, organizing tours, and managing group logistics, ultimately playing over 100 concerts between 2014 and 2022.
In 2018, Sam began formal classical guitar studies at Georgia State University with Dr. Luther Enloe, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in 2022. While at GSU, he performed with the Georgia State Guitar Quartet at the 2022 Georgia Music Educators Conference and was a featured soloist at the Atlanta Guitar Guild’s 2023 Guitar Gala.
Sam is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Guitar Performance at Columbus State University, where he serves as Graduate Assistant to Dr. Andrew Zohn. His studies have included performances for CSU President Dr. Stuart Rayfield, participation in the university’s “Kaleidoscope” concert, and chamber collaborations—most notably a performance of Sergio Assad’s Menino for guitar duo and cello, coached by Assad himself. In 2024, Sam was a featured performer at the Solstice Symposium in Higganum, Connecticut, opening for renowned Cuban guitarist Rene Izquierdo.
His academic interests include music theory and harmony, and in Spring 2025, he presented a lecture recital on Lennox Berkeley’s Sonatina for Guitar, Op. 51, exploring the composer’s harmonic language and use of modality, rhythm, and modern compositional techniques. At CSU, Sam has performed in masterclasses with David Russell, Jason Vieaux, Jérémy Jouve, Adam Holzman, Pablo Garibay, Andrew Wilder, and SoloDuo’s Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela.
Sam is also a dedicated teacher, working with private students since 2022. His teaching emphasizes solid technical foundations, learning to read standard notation, and personalized instruction tailored to each student’s goals. His students have been accepted into performing arts programs and regularly participate in recitals.
Outside of music, Sam enjoys cycling, basketball, and spending time with his friends, family, his partner Cece, and their two cats, Iris and Gal.
